Live and Waiting for Godot

We've been live for about a week now.

Not a single sale of a single word. And that's ok.

It's slow going - getting search indexed, products listed, marketing rolling... But I tell you this my friends, the quiet serenity portends better than immediate burial under a chaotic avalanche of new business.

Why, you wonder, is the proprietor of an ultra-rationalist online business happy and content with an inbox bereft of orders? Is it not the lifeblood of such a hard nosed capitalist experiment, should it not be what is naturally needed to course through the veins of such a profiteer's live site and merchant account, the sustenance and existential justification for an onerous monthly subscription obligation?

The true reward will not be the riches raked in from sales heavily discounted by merchant gateway fees, Shopify sales skimming, and the meager leftovers after Google eats through one's margins in a gluttonous orgy of ads and product placement royalties.

The time and focus to be present and thoughtful in each human interaction labeled a "sale" enabled by AI. Getting to understand what brought each customer to the site, what drew them to the word, and the Why of lending voice to their self expression through a single succession of contiguous letters that they find particularly powerful.

This is what pays whilst tills lay fallow.

There is time, absent volume.

Buy something my child, and I shall know thee.
